The Truth—The Third Commandment

Shalom Viewers,

Below is the transcript of the video.  Knowing YHWH’s name is the beginning of knowing Him.

May you have a blessed Shabbat and Feast of Pentecost this weekend.

Shalom,

If we found the truth or learned about the truth, we would abide by it and correct ourselves especially of what we have always known or thought to be true was not in fact the truth.  One of those truths is The Third Commandment which deals with using the personal name of YHWH.  Since many of believers do not know the name of YHWH and instead use LORD or GOD thinking they are using the right name, they miss the true meaning of the Third Commandment.
Devarim/Deuteronomy 5:11
‘You do not bring the Name of
יהוה your Elohim to naught, for יהוה does not leave him unpunished who brings His Name to naught.
Many believers believe that the Third Commandment has to do with using His name when cursing or when living life of Sin and using his Name.  Both reasons are good ones. Those two are also what we should also strive to do in our everyday lives.
However, the real purpose of the Third Commandment has more to do with the personal name of YHWH and what we should not do to it.  Let us begin by looking at two of the popular bible translations since many of the believers use bibles that use LORD or GOD in capital letters.

Bible Translations of Devarim/Deuteronomy 5:11

New International Version (©1984)
“You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

King James Bible
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold [him] guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

We see that there are three different words; naught, vain, misuse.  We now have three different words used in the bibles (there are a few more other words used).  Let us take a look at the definitions of each term based from the Oxford Dictionary.

Naught:   Nothing, Zero, Ruin,

Vain:        Having high opinion of oneself

Producing no result, useless

Having no meaning or likeliness of fulfillment

Misuse:    Use something in wrong way or for wrong purpose

Treat someone badly or unfairly

We find three different definitions and there are some similarities but nothing concrete to tell us which one is the meaning that is being conveyed to us.   To better understand the meanings of the definitions, we must look at the original word which is in Hebrew.  I normally use Strong’s Concordance of Hebrew/English and Greek/English dictionary.

Original Word: שׁוא

Transliteration: shav

Meaning:

H7723:  From the same as H7722 in the sense of desolating; evil (as destructive), literally (ruin) or morally (especially guile); figuratively idolatry (as false, subjectively), uselessness (as deceptive, objectively; also adverbially in vain): – false (-ly), lie, lying, vain, vanity.

In  Devarim/Deutonomy the word Shav is translated into either naught, vain, misuse.  The term Shav is also used again in another commandment, the Ninth Commandment.  With this term used differently we can get a bigger picture of what YHWH does not want us to do with his Name.

Devarim/Deuteronomy 5:20

‘You do not bear false witness against your neighbour.
The term Shav is translated as false which is keeping with the original definition of the Hebrew word. As defined: we have Ruin, Destruction, False.  This means two things, the first being that when something is ruined or destroyed, there is nothing left.  What was there before is gone now.   The second is by lying about the name, By changing YHWH to LORD or God– we create a false statement, a false idol, a false name.  People start believing in that falseness.

We are now getting the real picture of the Third Commandment and the clear expectation that YHWH wants us to do with His Name, and more specifically what not to do with His Name.

Getting the real picture

We cannot bring YHWH’s name to ruin

We cannot bring YHWH’s name to nothingness

We cannot bring YHWH’s name to destruction

We cannot make YHWH’s name false

What does that tell us about the importance of YHWH’s name? A great deal!  His Name is forever!  By knowing His Name we can be filled with his esteem!

Tehillim/Psalms 72:17-19

17) Let His Name be forever, His Name continue before the sun; And let them bless themselves in Him; Let all nations call Him blessed.

18) Blessed be יהוה Elohim, Elohim of Yisra’ĕl, He alone is doing wonders!
19) And blessed be His esteemed Name forever! And let all the earth Be filled with His esteem. Amĕn and Amĕn.

Scriptures tells us what are we to do with His Name? We are to memorialize, declare, publish, magnify, glorify, wait on, praise, honor, extol, seek, bless, call upon, thank, desire, think upon, hallow, hold fast, and fear YHWH’s Name. Isn’t that enough to tell us how important His Name is?  Have we been blinded by the lies of the people who destroyed His Name, brought down His Name to nothingness by changing His Name from YHWH to LORD or GOD?   Let us wake up and give thanks for knowing His Name.

Let me give you one example of how easily we have been blinded.  Let us read from Yeshyahu/Isaiah 42:8 in KJV.

(KJV) Yeshyahu/Isaiah 42:8

I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

We know His Name is not LORD and in Yeshyahu/Isaiah, we are told that LORD is his name.  We can see in KJV and many translations that say LORD is His name.  Already we have been given a false statement.  By using LORD or GOD is making a false statement.  This reinforces the meaning of Shav which means false, lying, destruction, ruin.   As you can see in Isaiah 42:8; we are told that LORD is his name when that is not true and this is breaking the Third Commandment.

Let us see it with YHWH’s name intact and see how much more profound His words come out.

(Scriptures)  Yeshyahu/Isaiah 42:8

“I am יהוה, that is My Name, and My esteem I do not give to another, nor My praise to idols.

By changing YHWH’s name to GOD or LORD YHWH’s name was brought down to nothingness. The translators literally ruined His name by replacing his Name.   By continuing to use GOD or LORD you are destroying YHWH’s name.  YHWH will punish those who destroy his name and bring it down to nothing?

Devarim/Deuteronomy 5:11
‘You do not bring the Name of יהוה your Elohim to naught, for יהוה does not leave him unpunished who brings His Name to naught.

Let us stop tradition and walk in the truth.  YHWH’s name is YHWH and it is simply so.    He tells us to Know His Name, Love His Name, and Use His Name.  By His grace we are allowed to see the Truth and know His Name.  By His Mercy we are able to truly know Him through His Name. Take this commandment to heart and do it.

Closing Verse

Revelations 22:3-4
22:3  And no longer shall there be any curse, and the throne of Elohim and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.

22:4  And they shall see His face, and His Name shall be upon their foreheads.

The Truth–The Name of YHWH

The Truth—The Name of YHWH

Introduction

The Truth has been hidden from you for many years.   Who is God?  Who is Lord?  Many people do not know his name assuming that He is always called God or Lord means that it is His name.   I will be making 4 points, one video per point.   In order to understand the restoration of the 12 tribes of Israel, we need to know and understand the foundation and this means that we need to clear up some basic truths.   The first one is knowing the real name of god/lord.

  1. 1.      Name of YHWH has always been YHWH
    1. a.      He spoke His name to Mosheh before he went to Egypt to free Israel from the Pharoah

                                                  i.      Exo 3:15  And Elohim said further to Mosheh, “Thus you are to say to the children of Yisra’ĕl, ‘יהוה Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Aḇraham, the Elohim of Yitsḥaq, and the Elohim of Yaʽaqoḇ, has sent me to you. This is My Name forever, and this is My remembrance to all generations.’

  1. b.      We are told to Love the name of YHWH

                                                  i.      Isa 56:6  “Also the sons of the foreigner who join themselves to יהוה, to serve Him, and to love the Name of יהוה, to be His servants, all who guard the Sabbath, and not profane it, and hold fast to My covenant –

  1. 2.      Why have we forgotten his Name?
    1. a.      Have you noticed or wondered why sometimes LORD or GOD were in capital other times they were not?

                                                  i.      Capital Letter LORD or GOD in bibles means that translators changed name

ii.      From YHWH to LORD or GOD.   Almost 7000 times (more specifically 6823 times), the translators changed YHWH to LORD or GOD

iii.      Even the bible prefaces tell us that they changed the name of YHWH to LORD/GOD

  1. b.     This is confusing.  Are we talking about two different people LORD or GOD?   Let us take a look at several  verses.  I am using KJV bible verses

                                                  i.      Ezekiel 20:5  And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;

ii.      Judges 16:28 And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

  1. 3.      YHWH is clear that we will forget his name for Baal
    1. a.      Scriptures that Support this

                                                  i.      Jer 23:26  “Till when shall it be in the heart of the prophets? – the prophets of falsehood and prophets of the deceit of their own heart,

ii.      Jer 23:27  who try to make My people forget My Name by their dreams which everyone relates to his neighbour, as their fathers forgot My Name for Baʽal.

  1. b.      Strong’s Concordance H1167, בּעל, ba‛al, bah’-al (one of definition is Lord)
    1. From H1166; a master; hence a husband, or (figuratively) owner (often used with another noun in modifications of this latter sense: –  + archer, + babbler, + bird, captain, chief man, + confederate, + have to do, + dreamer, those to whom it is due, + furious, those that are given to it, great, + hairy, he that hath it, have, + horseman, husband, lord, man, + married, master, person, + sworn, they of.
  2. 4.      We must call YHWH’s name for salvation
    1. a.      We are supposed to call on his name for salvation

                                                  i.      Act 2:21  ‘And it shall be that everyone who calls on the Name of יהוה shall be saved.

ii.      Joe 2:32  “And it shall be that everyone who calls on the Name of יהוה shall be delivered. For on Mount Tsiyon and in Yerushalayim there shall be an escape as יהוה has said, and among the survivors whom יהוה calls.

iii.      Rom 10:13  For “everyone who calls on the Name of יהוה shall be saved.”

  1. b.     Conclusion

                                                  i.      Now that you know His Name, It is time to let us start using His Name: It is a Memorial forever, we need to call on His name to be saved, and it is His Name!

ii.      We are to love His Name

  1. If you do not know his Name, how can you love Him?

iii.      We need to know His Name to be saved!

Psalm 138:2 I bow myself toward Your set-apart Hĕḵal, And give thanks to Your Name For Your kindness and for Your truth; For You have made great Your Word, Your Name, above all.

I have returned!

Shalom!

It has been a long time since I have written a blog/done a vlog. A lot of things have happened in the last year and I am very thankful to YHWH for all those lessons. It has been very enriching experience to go through all of this, humbling even. Yes, humbling is the right word.

I am now returning back to teaching you and others about YHWH, Yahushua, and the Scriptures. If YHWH wills, I will be able to contribute to my vlogs/blogs consistently.

In all things, give YHWH esteem!

Shalom,

Dirk
